April 2023 End of the Month Report

Wordsower Bible Institute Mobile Team

Our Wordsower Bible institute teaches two-week classes on our main base. The Mobile Team travels throughout Liberia teaching one-week classes. We have 4 levels: Level 1 is the basic doctrines of scripture, level 2 is about disciples making disciples, level 3 is how to start a church and level 4 is how to go as a missionary. Our Mobile team just returned; they were on the road for 2 months. Below is a 3-minute video of their experiences:

Testimonies of Disciples

Testimony #1

Pynes Town, in the past, was one of the most powerful Animistic strongholds of Satan in Liberia. The first time I went there three men kept following me, like shadows. I was there for a few days, handing out blue Gideon pocket Bibles, and teaching scripture. During my time there these three men, voluntarily, became my personal servants, making sure I had food, water, and all other needs met. We became friends. Returning often, I started discipling them and others. During one of the discipling sessions, I asked them, why they had been following me so closely? One of them spoke up and said, “Before you came, one of us had a dream. The dream was of a white man coming to our town and distributing little blue Bibles. A voice in the dream said, ‘follow him.’ We had been looking and waiting for you.” Today, Pyne and Shadrack have started churches within the demonic strongholds of this region. The other, Moses, runs our printing press, goes out on missions and builds church buildings for the churches we have started. Our Lord said, “I myself will go before you, leveling mountains and hills. I will break down bronze gates and smash their iron bars. I will give you treasures from dark, secret places; then you will know that I am the LORD.” Isa 45:2-3.

I used the word “past,” when speaking about the stronghold of Satan in Pynes Town. We have never entered an Animistic stronghold of Satan and not seen the foundation of that region falter. Never have we entered a churchless Animistic stronghold and not been able to form a fellowship of believers.

Testimony #2

Before Wordsower met Sherman Teoh he was a drunkard, drug addict, as well as an idol worshipper. He was part of a group referred to as Devil Dancers. Their spiritual head, the Devil, will dress in forest costumes and his Devil Dancers will follow him around the town barefoot. In the process, they will kill and eat the towns livestock to feed themselves. They will be carrying whips, machetes, and clubs, and shot guns to defend the Devil. They have an alter and worship demons in a secret place of the forest, called The Zoe Bush.
Sherman became a Christian through the evangelistic efforts of one of our Wordsower disciples, and later became the assistant pastor of the first church that we started, in Solo Town. Later he backslid and was involved in a tragic motorbike accident. His leg was broken multiple times, his hip and shoulder were badly damaged. After more than 8 months in the hospital he was released, a broken, limping, handicapped man. In the process his wife left him because of the disability. Sherman was very much discouraged, depressed and felt totally abandoned. After Sherman’s accident, Wordsower mission teams visited him many times to encourage, teach, give vision and hope. He attended the Wordsower Bible Institute and graduated. Later Sherman became one of the teachers of our Bible Institute.
Today, Sherman Teoh is our Wordsower Bible Institute principal and is the secretary of our Caring Committee. He visits the bank twice a week to preach and teach the customers. Sherman also serves as the general secretary and Sunday School teacher of a local church. Sherman is now the Wordsower Bible Institute principal.

Testimonies from our bases

The testimonies below come from our indigenous missionary bases. These bases are strategically located in the midst of resistant, unreached tribes. In the regions of our bases are towns and villages that have never had churches. Within these Satanic strongholds, we are seeing salvations. We then baptize, disciple, and start churches. These are only a few of many testimonies we receive every month.

From our indigenous missionary team in Gbarpolu County:

“Medina is the stronghold of Muslims in Gbarpolu county. Our Wordsower team visited the town to evangelize. We were stopped by the imam. He said it would be over his dead body before the gospel would ever be preached in his town!!! As long he lives, he said, no gospel will ever be preached in his town. I said to him, why do you prophesy against yourself. A few months later he became sick and died. Since his death we have shown evangelistic films. We regularly send teams into Medina to share the gospel. A fellowship of believers is forming.”

“If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:31-32

In another town called Manowelleh, one of our field leaders, James, has a similar story. The first time we arrived in the town, the elder rejected us. According to their tradition, the elder is the owner of the town, and whatever he says is final. He told us, “I need no gospel in this town!! Only over my dead body will you be allowed to enter!! A few days later he got sick and died.  We now have two churches in the town and the Christians are plenty.

“I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18

From our indigenous missionary team in Sierra Leone:

“Our Lord touched the heart of a Muslim named Saidu.  He traveled 10 miles to come to us. His request was for us to go down to his village with the gospel. Saidu said that the village has had a church building since 1964. The pastor died in 1982. Since than there has been no one to pastor the church. In the past the Christians and their activities were abundant even though they were persecuted and in danger. But now, they are turning back to becoming Muslims, due to the lack of a trained leader, and have abandonment the church. He appealed to us on behalf of the church and the entire village to come and help reawaken the church. He was asked, why a Muslim would come to us with such a request. His answer was that it will be good for their village.
We believe that God sent Saidu to us and that He wants to do great things in the village through this Muslim. Immediately we went to the village and had a town meeting. We have started church services, are encouraging the Christians and are doing trainings.”
I think of this Muslim, Saidu, from an unreached tribe. Obviously, our Lord compelled him to come and is using him. Surely, his salvation will be soon. These verses came to mind:

“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.
To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.”
Isaiah 65:1

“I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people;
and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one,”
and, “In the very place where it was said to them,
‘You are not my people,’
there they will be called ‘children of the living God.”
Romans 9:25-26

March 2023 End of Month Report

 THE LABORERS ARE FEW!

“It is estimated that only 3% of foreign missionaries today are working to reach the unreached tribes. The other 96% are working within reached areas. Of all the money designated for "missions" in the U.S., only about one cent out of every one-hundred dollars given to missions is used to take the gospel to unreached people who don't have access to it. The rest goes towards efforts to further evangelize reached people.”* Wordsower Africa has 6 indigenous missionary bases in 4 countries that are assigned to work with 12 unreached tribes.

Urgent Financial Need!

For several months our donations have not met our financial needs. We are being forced to reduce our mission outreaches. We have churchless towns and villages of resistant unreached tribes requesting us to come to them but we are unable. Residents of these villages, where we have been, are requesting us to disciple them, help them start their church and assist them with a church roof, but we are not able. Not only are we not able to continue the work we have started but we are also unable to advance. We need your help! Please pray and ask our Lord if He wants you to financially participate with us monthly. Speak to the mission boards of your churches about us. Also, please, tell your families and friends about us. Encourage them to subscribe to our monthly reports. Than you.

 Testimonies of Disciples

“My name is Mark Prince Kergbeh. I was born during the civil war. I did not know my father because he was a solider. My mother raised me in fierce poverty and hardship. During this time of struggle, I joined a gang and took on the notorious life of robbery to support my drug habit. I was eventually arrested sentenced to many years behind bars. My uncle discovered that I was in prison and arranged for my release to join the army. Once released I ran and did not join. My father found me, after 20 years, and solicited me to be a drug seller for him in another county. I accepted and again was spoiling peoples lives through drugs and robberies. I was arrested and jailed 5 times.

I moved next to Wordsower Africa’s compound and formed a ghetto in the nearby bush to sell my drugs and provide a place for the addicts to get high. Badio and Kim, leaders of Wordsower, kept telling me about Christ. God convicted me from their teachings of scripture and His warnings. I gave my life to Christ, asking for forgiveness and salvation. I became a new man. Kim and I would go to the many hidden ghettos so that he could preach and teach. While Kim and I were going to the ghettos, I attended and graduated from the Wordsower Bible school.

Through Wordsower, I have been trained to work in our dental clinic and to extract teeth. I have also had medical training. They employed me. I now have a wife and 3 children. I’m able to support my family. Wordsower also helped me with the cost of my wife’s C-sections. I go on missions, preach and teach. I assist in the starting of churches. I praise God and thank Wordsower Africa! No longer am I spoiling lives but am showing them the path for eternal salvation.”

Augustine Padmore was a mercenary war lord during the 15-year civil war of Liberia. He was also a mercenary in Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone. His war name was Red Scorpion. He did horrendous massacres of innocent civilians in villages and towns. The motto was, “No one comes out alive.”  The very young, 7-12 year old, boys would be taken and forcibly trained to become child soldiers. The chosen women would become sex slaves. He cut off arms and hands. He cut open pregnant women bellies for fun, guessing if the child was a boy or girl. He ate human heart.

I, Kim Smith, would often go to bars and drug houses preaching and teaching. I was going to a bar every couple days teaching scripture. Those in the bar were former soldiers of Augustine. One day Augustine came into the bar, and saw them with little Gideon pocket Bibles doing assignments. He was stunned, and asked about what they were doing. Their answer was, “A white man keeps coming here teaching us the Bible. We are loving it.” Augustine said that he wanted to meet this “white man”.

They brought Augustine to our base to meet me. Our Lord had already prepared his heart for salvation. That day he received salvation by faith. The next day we baptized him, and started discipling him. While attending and graduating from our Bible school, Augustine and I would go to drug houses and bars searching for other former soldiers. Several were found and also became Christian and were discipled.

We found, Lasana, also a former war lord, Augustine’s enemy during the war. Lasana was drunk when we found him. He also has become Christian, was baptized, and was discipled. To the shock of Liberia, Augustine and Lasana would go, from village to village, preaching and teaching. They even started a church together. Today, they are both spiritual leaders doing the work of our Lord.

Our common method of taking the gospel to the unreached

We have formed 6 indigenous missionary bases in 4 countries: Liberia, Ivory Coast, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. These teams have been sent specifically to unreached tribes. Below is our typical method of initially entering a new town of an unreached tribe:

We prayerfully start by going into a town of a new region. We go by any means required to get us there. We go by motorbike, cross rivers in canoe and hike. Going into these churchless unreached communities is dangerous and difficult. But, compelled by the Spirit, we go.

As is our custom, we introduce ourselves to the town leaders. We ask for permission to show the Jesus Film. Because they have never seen a big screen show, especially in their dialect, they almost always agree for us to show.

After the Jesus Film is shown, the Gospel is explained. We then pray with those wanting salvation. The next day we return and spend time teaching about sin, the sacrifice of Christ, repentance, salvation and baptism. We then invite those who have asked for forgiveness and salvation if they want to be baptized. After baptism we return to the town and have a worship service. Faithless Muslims will never agree to be baptized. They know that professing to be a Christian and being baptized will cause them to be expelled from their family and into serious persecution.

We return multiple times, providing scripture training and worship. As the new congregation forms we look for a spiritual leader so we can provide deeper training. Usually the birthing church will meet under a tree, in an abandoned hut or a school room.

When we see that they have a spiritual leader and are able to meet as a church, without our team directly leading, then we will provide the material to put up a church roof. Together, with the new believers, we put up the roof. It is the congregation’s responsibility to complete the walls.

We continue to meet, disciple and encourage the new church.

These are only a few of many testimonies we receive every month.

From our indigenous missionary team in Guinea:

I, Kim Smith, just returned from our team in Northern Guinea. The Christians, including our team, are facing persecution. Muslims own almost all the land. If a Christian rents from a Muslim landlord and expresses their faith then they will be forced to leave.

Associated Press wrote, “Some 1,300 military personnel from 29 countries are training in Ghana and Ivory Coast, amid surging jihadi violence linked to al-Qaida, the Islamic State group has killed thousands, displaced millions and plunged countries into crises… the extremist activity is concentrated in West Africa… the violence is rapidly spreading.” We have bases in 4 West African nations. Violent jihadist extremists are now in the city our Guinea team is based in.The jihadists are going from mosque to mosque inciting the Muslims to expel the Christians. Pray for West Africa. Pray for our indigenous missionary teams.

From our indigenous missionary team in Sierra Leone:

“This is the month of Ramadan for the Muslims. We interviewed dozens of them about the meaning and significance of Ramadan, but not even one person knew. The youth see Islamic religious beliefs as a tradition of their forefathers. They nonchalantly remain, but do not believe, to avoid persecution and family conflict.”

“Good morning it was very marvelous and wonderful last evening in a churchless village. More than a 300 people viewed the Jesus film. Six elderly and a blind woman were baptized.”

Our on-site leaders and the donations of churches and individuals from abroad are bringing in a great harvest. We need the unity of us all, His Church, to accomplish our Lord’s command to reach the world. Thank you for your active love and faith. Thank you for sacrificing with us. I’m so overjoyed with what is happening here in West Africa, and have so much to write about! The problem is that if I write much than, few will read it at all, others with quickly skim it and only a handful will truly read it. So painfully I reduce the length of the reports.

A Message from His Word

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus, the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” Jn 4:34-38. We, here, are experiencing a great harvest! The verse says, “one sows and another reaps.” There cannot be a reaping without a sowing. Your sowing allows us to reap. Our team here goes through a great suffering and sacrifice, on site, because of what you have sown. It says, “Others have done the hard work and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” We are His Church. Our unity is required, and in our unity, we will all share in the reward. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:8, “There is no difference between the one who plants and the one who waters; God will reward each one according to the work each has done.” 1 Corinthians 3:8.

Praising God for His Provision

We received two designated donations for February. Money was designated for, much needed, motorbikes and another for school fee assistance. We were able to buy 7 new motorbikes and assisted 51 persons with school fees. From these donations more bikes and more assistance with school fees will be used next month. The bikes are the “horses” of our calvary. Also, we have a multitude of field leaders in 4 countries who are true “living sacrifices.” School fees will be given to them, and others, so their children will not be put out of school.

From our indigenous missionary team in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia

The town of Falie is the county stronghold of the Animistic people in Grand Cape Mount County. It houses the county’s alter. Six times churches have tried to start in the town and have failed. The Animistic regional leader is called the Devil. He says a church will never survive in this town. The town belongs to their society and no church can exist here! Wordsower Africa has heard this many times over the years. Never have we entered an Animistic stronghold, with the power of the Holy Spirit, and not been able to crumble the stronghold and start a church.

Wordsower Africa has established a church in Falie. We have evangelized, baptized about 20, discipled, and trained spiritual leaders. Normally we will put up a roof for the churches we start. The metal roofing, nails and planks have been purchased for their building. Hopefully the roof will be completed by April. Below are pictures of the church that is now worshipping under tarps. Our 2-day conference culminated with baptisms and communion.

From our indigenous missionary team in Sierra Leone:

(This was reported last month. But the saga continues)
“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have Never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” Thousands of souls are perishing and following, societies, cultures and deep traditional beliefs.

Our Lord led us to an unreached churchless old village called ***** (Name is being withheld for security), occupied by the Temne people. The village has a mosque and has a population of about 2,000. They are also the home of the women's Animistic secret society.

The first time we arrived in this village, at about 11AM, almost all the villagers had gone to work on their farms. We asked for the chief and was told that the chief was absent, but the Iman was there. We interacted with the Iman telling him our purpose. Immediately, the Iman, himself, called, in a very loud voice, upon people to gather. We taught the gospel and sang a few familiar songs in the Temne dialect. They were surprised and happy to hear the Gospel.

They agreed for us to show the Jesus film, in their dialect, the next night. We arrived during their Muslim prayer time, and waited until the prayer ended. More than 300 people had gathered. We called upon the Imam to pray before starting the film. The Iman called for the prayer and almost everybody prayed a Muslim prayer. In the middle of the film, many people were shedding tears, groaning, and shouting. After the show, 143 people made a public confession of faith for salvation, and were willing to be baptized.

We came to baptize but the river was dry. We ran here and there trying to find water to baptize people. One of those willing to be baptized said, “A water pit is close to my garden, let us go there.” The water was very dirty and the pit was small, but we were left with no option, we prayed and baptized 162 people. Soon after the residents enlarged the pit and called upon us to return so others could be baptized. We then baptized many more.

The video below is the church worshipping under a tree. Notice the joy! Another churchless Muslim town, of an unreached tribe, has a church. We plan on putting up a roof for their church to meet.

From our indigenous missionary team in Guinea:

“This is our first house church. Members contributed planks for the roof. Wordsower has provided nails and will purchase metal for the roof. It is a Muslim dominated community. There are no churches in this region. The members were glad to contribute the roof planks to make sure their tent would be raised.”

From our indigenous missionary team in Ivory Coast:

“A new group of disciples has started an independent church and are growing. Nine of them came for our level 4 class… And yet another group of disciples has formed a church, which Emmanuel Tooua works with… We baptized 12 persons in this new church… A Muslim leader, of 14 years, converted to Christ Jesus. He is now a Wordsower trainee. He taught, in our level 4 class on, “How to reach Muslims”. He has become a missionary to the Muslims.”

From one of our field leaders in Liberia:

“I will be traveling to Radio Village tomorrow for two days training. Remember me in prayer. It's a long walk and we have to cross of river. We will be in the remotest part of Rivercess County.”

Participate with us in praise and prayer:

  • Pray: I just returned from being with our indigenous missionary team in Northern Guinea. Radical jihadist Muslims have entered and are now laying a foundation for the annihilation of Christianity in Northern Guinea
  • Pray: For increased donations so that we may continue to advance into unreached tribes.
  • Pray: For our indigenous missionary teams, that they will continue to fearlessly, boldly and sacrificially advance the gospel.

Our on-site leaders and the donations of churches and individuals from abroad are bringing in a great harvest. We need the unity of us all, His Church, to accomplish our Lord’s command to reach the world. Thank you for your active love and faith. Thank you for sacrificing with us.

God prepares and calls the lost:

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” Jn 6:44. Our Lord prepares the hearts of the people. No one can come to God in faith if the have not been prepared, by Him. Jesus said, “What gives life is God's Spirit; human power is of no use at all. The words I have spoken to you bring God's life-giving Spirit... This is the very reason I told you that no people can come to me unless the Father makes it possible for them to do so." Jn 6:63-65. No one can come to Jesus, nor can we lead others into salvation if our Lord has not prepared them first with His Spirit. “When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and praised the Lord's message; and those who had been chosen for eternal life became believers.” Acts 13:48. The testimonies below are not from our great wisdom or presentation. We show up in obedience and God does His work. “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Rom 10:14-15.

Testimonies from our Bases

From our indigenous missionary team in Sierra Leone:

“Good evening my dear brethren. Our Lord has done a marvelous and wonderful work today in an unreached churchless village called ******. We did a day long mission there and asked if we could show the Jesus film. They agreed for us to show it, in their Temne dialect, the next day. We arrived during their Muslim prayer time, so we waited until the prayer ended. More than 300 people gathered to view the show. We called upon the Imam to pray before we started. The Imam prayed. Almost everybody was praying the Muslim’s prayer way by having their hands open. Afterwards, we thanked the Imam and began the show. In the middle of the show, many of the people were shedding tears and shouting. After it finished, 143 people gave their lives to Christ and were willing to be baptized. The next morning, we baptized 162 people. Interestingly, this resistant, churchless, Muslim village, of an unreached tribe, has given birth to a new church! Pray that our Lord will guide and protect all the new converts in ****** village. Lord thank you for leading us to this Village and for delivering these souls. Everybody everywhere needs to hear the Gospel. We go.”

These Muslim converts have saving faith, though immature. No Muslim baptizes flippantly. They know their baptism will create, life devastating, personal persecution. And look carefully at the “water” they were baptized in! Green slim had to be pushed aside for them to be immersed in that stagnant, glutinous, sludge. 162 were baptized in it. The faithless would never enter there!

“Today is another wonderful day in the history of Wordsower Sierra Leone. We baptized two people yesterday in a churchless village called ******. They are believed to be the only Christians in this village. Esther, one of the two new baptized converts, was only a two day old Christian. She is an eleventh grade student of the nearby senior secondary school. While walking home from school she witnessed to two of her friends. By the grace of God, one of them accepted Jesus. Upon our arrival with their baptism certificates, Esther quietly rushed to us and said I have talked to my friends and one of them accepted Jesus and is willing to be baptized. As a team, we prayed with Marie and baptized her. How could a new convert who had just been baptized the day before lead another Muslim to Christ for salvation? God can use anybody at anytime to accomplish his mission. Pray for Esther that the Lord will use her to do more. Everybody everywhere needs to hear the Gospel.”

From our indigenous missionary team in Lofa County, Liberia:

“We did a training, 23 attended. The town did not have a church building so we did the training under a big tree. We showed the Jesus film in the evenings. The first night 47 viewed and three people gave their lives to God. The second night 55 viewed and 7 people gave their lives to God. Mr. Saylee said, he was a very wicked man. The night after the first day of our training he had a dream, he saw himself walking towards a huge fire. As he was getting close to the fire, someone spoke to him and said, “Go and baptize.” In his dream he saw a building and was told to enter it and pray. He woke up from sleep greatly disturbed. That day he went with his wife to the building where we were training. He told us that he wanted to be baptized. So we spent time with him teaching him the scriptures, prayed with him, and baptized him. A 99 year old woman also attended the training and was baptized. After the training the village is requesting for us to help them start a church.

From our indigenous missionary team in Gbarpolu County, Liberia:

Our mission to the prison was great! We talked with 32 prisoners, and 3 prayed for salvation. One was a Muslim man named Mohammed. He is the head of all the prisoners. They call him 5-star. 5-star surrendered to Jesus. We gave him 5 Bibles and our Bible marking training so that he could start training disciples. He was once a leader under Satan’s rule, he is now being transformed by God to make disciples in God’s kingdom.

Praise God! He called and sent us reinforcements:

Bryan Bame, from Michigan, and Lee Trisler, from Ohio, came to provide much needed service and training. Wordsower Africa has a new financial board. Bryan is the treasurer of our board. He came to train us in accounting and how to produce reports on Excel. Also he came to observe our ministry first hand. This made Lee’s third trip here. He is a master pressman! We purchased a new press. In America, he reconditioned it. After it was delivered he came to set it up and tuned up our existing press. Both men were essential and much appreciated. Thank you!!!

Other short-term and long-term reinforcements are invited and needed. Pray to see if you are being called to be sent.

Participate with us in praise and prayer:

  • Praise: We continue to advance into the strongholds of Satan without serious persecution.
  • Pray: For increased donations so that we may continue to advance into unreached tribes.
  • Pray: For our indigenous missionary teams, that they will continue to fearlessly, boldly and sacrificially advance the gospel.

2022 End of Year Report

We are in 4 countries: Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia. We have 7 bases: 4 in Liberia, 1 in Ivory Coast, 1 in Sierra Leone and 1 in Guinea. From the unity of our bases and you who participate have seen a great harvest.

3,134 - Total times we ministered in communities/villages/towns/cities
2,279 - Total mission trips
1,922 - Persons who were baptized
1,197- Wordsower Bible Institute student attendance, one-week and two-week classes
9 - Churches started
555 - Churches we visited and trained pastors
70,038 - Viewed the Jesus Film, 588 times it was shown
6,754 - Attended our 1-3 days workshops-training in 109 locations.
4 - Broadcasting on community radio stations
223 - Dental patients, 255 teeth pulled
542,500 - Copies printed, 3,639 booklets made (English and French)

In our unity Wordsower Africa is advancing. We are in 4 nations and are ministering in 11 unreached tribes. Our indigenous missionary teams are seeing a move of the Holy Spirit. Of the 1,197 that were baptized, in 2022, many were from resistant Muslim churchless villages and towns of unreached tribes. Towns, for unknown generations, that outlawed the existence of churches and Christians now have churches and thriving congregations. When we evangelize, disciple and start a church in one of these communities there will be invitations from the surrounding communities to come and start a church for them.

Towns are led by a chief and Imam. Imams are the Muslim spiritual leaders of a community. Together they are powerful and rule the people. It is only by a move of the Holy Spirit that they agree to break, age-old, generational laws and give us land to start a church, and they do it with joy and enthusiasm. When the neighboring towns and villages here about what the town has done then we are invited to come to them to start a church in their town. Our teams are overwhelmed and unable to meet most of their requests.

As we are now living within this open door of God, I am reminded of the below verses:

These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.” Revelation 3:7-9

Paul said, “Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me.” 2 Corinthians 2:12. We are also experiencing an open door.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 16:9, “A great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.” As we advance, we are witnessing a great open door and opposition.

Paul and Barnabas returned to Antioch. “On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.” Acts 14:27-28. We are also reporting to you the news of this open door of faith to the Gentiles.

Paul asked the church of Colosse to pray for them, “And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” Colossians 4:2-5.

Please pray with us regularly as we start a new year. There are many more unreached tribes in these 4 counties. Wordsower Africa has become an indigenous missionary training and sending hub. We are asking for your continued unity and participation so that additional indigenous missionary teams may be sent out. The doors have been opened! Let us, in unity, advance and “save others by snatching them from the fire.” Jude 1:23!!!

Thank you,
Kim

Our on-site leaders and the donations of churches and individuals from abroad are bringing in a great harvest. We need the unity of us all, His Church, to accomplish our Lord’s command to reach the world. Thank you for your active love and faith. Thank you for sacrificing with us.

Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them.… He went on to say, this is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” John 6:44 and 65. God draws mankind unto Himself and enables mankind to receive salvation. Jesus also said, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18. Jesus builds His church.

He has assigned us, His church, to bring the gospel, the knowledge of saving faith, to the world. “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14. Our Lord receives all the Glory. Paul said, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-7. Our joy on earth is to be used by Him to reconcile the world unto Himself. Our unity, here in West Africa and abroad, is accomplishing his command to reach the world.

Our base in Sierra Leone is experiencing a great move of the Holy Spirit. I, Kim Smith, just returned from there. I went to encourage, give additional training and to observe. I was astounded!!! I saw churches in towns of resistant, unreached Muslim tribes that had never in their history had a church. It is estimated that some of these tribes may have only one or two Christians per 100,000 people (joshuaproject.net). Christmas Sunday morning I preached in Malai. Our indigenous missionary team first entered the town 5 months ago and found no Christians. One month ago, we built their church roof. They have already outgrown and put an extension on it. Christmas morning 148 showed for the service. The new church building was overpacked. Continuously benches were brought in and filled throughout the service. Testimonies were given from the Imam (The spiritual leader of their Mosque), the town chief and town elders. Several had walked far to come to the new church. Many said that they wanted a church in their town! This is not an isolated example, there are many other such testimonies in the surrounding counties. Only by a powerful move of the Holy Spirit could the majority of a town, from an unreached Muslim tribe, come to Christ in 5 months. That is not the work of man but of God. We, us here and you there, are His tools that are used for His purposes. The video, below, is less than three minutes long. It tells of some of my experiences in Sierra Leone.

Paul said to the Roman church, “But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to visit you, I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to see you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there.” Romans 15:23-24. Paul wanted to go into new territory, to new unreached tribes. He asked the church in Rome for financial assistance to go. Times have not changed. 2,000 years later it is the existing churches that send the missionaries into the unreached tribes. It is in our unity, each doing our part, that a great harvest will be realized among the unreached.

Testimonies from our bases

The testimonies below come from our indigenous missionary bases. These bases are strategically located in the midst of resistant, unreached tribes. In the regions of our bases are towns that have never had churches. Within these Satanic strongholds, we are seeing salvations. We then baptize, disciple, and start churches.

From our indigenous missionary team in Sierra Leone:

“The heartbeat of Jesus Christ is that no one should perish. Therefore, we are to sacrifice to complete the mission of Jesus Christ. Where we are, we don't understand the language of the community dwellers. We haven't been here before, but the spirit of God has been leading us to hundreds of churchless communities. To thousands of souls that are perishing. They haven't heard the gospel. They are surprised to see us as Christian missionaries and slaves of the living God. We are to spread the gospel in order to save these souls from hell. We as a team, believe that, EVERYBODY EVERYWHERE NEEDS TO HEAR THE GOSPEL. It's a great task, but with God above, all things are possible.”

“We had a church service in Kamoria village. We spent the night and showed the Jesus film in their language. The next morning, we had a beautiful church service. Many came, but some of the new converts stayed away because of fear of family and community persecution. We have two spiritual leaders we are training to be elders of the newly birthed church.”

While I was in Sierra Leone, we had a pastor’s conference. 62 spiritual leaders attended from several churches. Many of these are new pastors that came from the Muslim towns. They loved the teaching and want more teachings.

“We are soldiers, no fear, no worry, no stopping and no resting. We go, the gospel advances.”

From our indigenous missionary team in Gbarpolu County, Liberia:

“Two animistic towns have finally accepted the gospel. One of them, Yakayah, was founded in 1864 by a warrior named Yaka of the unreached Gola tribe. Since the town was established there have been no worship services or a church. This town has been a regional stronghold of witchcraft and the demonic. By the power of God that yoke has been broken. Our team went in and showed the Jesus film. Many accepted Christ. Their first Christmas celebration service was a success. The town chief agreed for us to have the service. Another church is being birthed.”

“Zelemu town has accepted the gospel. The town elders have given land for the Christians to build a worship center. Another church is being birthed, for the first time, in this town.”

“Madina, the regional Muslim stronghold, has never allowed for Christians to be in their town. Finally they allowed us to have a Christmas celebration. The children were many. Pray with us a church will also be birthed here.”

“Wordsower is highly regarded. Many pastors, teachers and former Muslims attend our trainings. Muslims are converting to Christ.”

Thank you! Every donation is important. The work is accomplished by the unity of us all. You are giving unto the Lord. Whether it is large or small that isn’t what is important. But to give as our Lord leads, as He compels each of us, that is what is important.

Participate with us in praise and prayer:

  • Praise: We have entered a new year. We thank our Lord for the harvest of 2022.
  • Pray: The roads are bad. It is dangerous for us as we travel on our motorbikes. I had an accident returning from Sierra Leone. My knee is damaged. Another had an accident and his foot is damaged. Please pray for our safety.
  • Pray: For our indigenous missionary teams, that they will continue to fearlessly, boldly and sacrificially advance the gospel into the unreached tribes.
  • Pray: As we prepare to send another indigenous missionary team to the Muslim unreached tribes of Sierra Leone.
  • Pray: For us we march into and live within the strongholds of Satan to, “snatch others from the fire and save them.” Jude 1:23.
  • Pray: “Finally, our friends, pray for us that the Lord's message may continue to spread rapidly and be received with honor, just as it was among you. Pray also that God will rescue us from wicked and evil people; for not everyone believes the message.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2.
