Urgent Financial Need!
For several months our donations have not met our financial needs. We are being forced to reduce our mission outreaches. We have churchless towns and villages of resistant unreached tribes requesting us to come to them but we are unable. Residents of these villages, where we have been, are requesting us to disciple them, help them start their church and assist them with a church roof, but we are not able. Not only are we not able to continue the work we have started but we are also unable to advance. We need your help! Please pray and ask our Lord if He wants you to financially participate with us monthly. Speak to the mission boards of your churches about us. Also, please, tell your families and friends about us. Testimonies of Disciples
“My name is Mark Prince Kergbeh. I was born during the civil war. I did not know my father because he was a solider. My mother raised me in fierce poverty and hardship. During this time of struggle, I joined a gang and took on the notorious life of robbery to support my drug habit. I was eventually arrested sentenced to many years behind bars. My uncle discovered that I was in prison and arranged for my release to join the army. Once released I ran and did not join. My father found me, after 20 years, and solicited me to be a drug seller for him in another county. I accepted and again was spoiling peoples lives through drugs and robberies. I was arrested and jailed 5 times.
I moved next to Wordsower Africa’s compound and formed a ghetto in the nearby bush to sell my drugs and provide a place for the addicts to get high. Badio and Kim, leaders of Wordsower, kept telling me about Christ. God convicted me from their teachings of scripture and His warnings. I gave my life to Christ, asking for forgiveness and salvation. I became a new man. Kim and I would go to the many hidden ghettos so that he could preach and teach. While Kim and I were going to the ghettos, I attended and graduated from the Wordsower Bible school.
Through Wordsower, I have been trained to work in our dental clinic and to extract teeth. I have also had medical training. They employed me. I now have a wife and 3 children. I’m able to support my family. Wordsower also helped me with the cost of my wife’s C-sections. I go on missions, preach and teach. I assist in the starting of churches. I praise God and thank Wordsower Africa! No longer am I spoiling lives but am showing them the path for eternal salvation.”
Augustine Padmore was a mercenary war lord during the 15-year civil war of Liberia. He was also a mercenary in Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone. His war name was Red Scorpion. He did horrendous massacres of innocent civilians in villages and towns. The motto was, “No one comes out alive.” The very young, 7-12 year old, boys would be taken and forcibly trained to become child soldiers. The chosen women would become sex slaves. He cut off arms and hands. He cut open pregnant women bellies for fun, guessing if the child was a boy or girl. He ate human heart.
I, Kim Smith, would often go to bars and drug houses preaching and teaching. I was going to a bar every couple days teaching scripture. Those in the bar were former soldiers of Augustine. One day Augustine came into the bar, and saw them with little Gideon pocket Bibles doing assignments. He was stunned, and asked about what they were doing. Their answer was, “A white man keeps coming here teaching us the Bible. We are loving it.” Augustine said that he wanted to meet this “white man”.
They brought Augustine to our base to meet me. Our Lord had already prepared his heart for salvation. That day he received salvation by faith. The next day we baptized him, and started discipling him. While attending and graduating from our Bible school, Augustine and I would go to drug houses and bars searching for other former soldiers. Several were found and also became Christian and were discipled.
We found, Lasana, also a former war lord, Augustine’s enemy during the war. Lasana was drunk when we found him. He also has become Christian, was baptized, and was discipled. To the shock of Liberia, Augustine and Lasana would go, from village to village, preaching and teaching. They even started a church together. Today, they are both spiritual leaders doing the work of our Lord.
Our common method of taking the gospel to the unreached
We have formed 6 indigenous missionary bases in 4 countries: Liberia, Ivory Coast, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. These teams have been sent specifically to unreached tribes. Below is our typical method of initially entering a new town of an unreached tribe:
We prayerfully start by going into a town of a new region. We go by any means required to get us there. We go by motorbike, cross rivers in canoe and hike. Going into these churchless unreached communities is dangerous and difficult. But, compelled by the Spirit, we go.
As is our custom, we introduce ourselves to the town leaders. We ask for permission to show the Jesus Film. Because they have never seen a big screen show, especially in their dialect, they almost always agree for us to show.
After the Jesus Film is shown, the Gospel is explained. We then pray with those wanting salvation. The next day we return and spend time teaching about sin, the sacrifice of Christ, repentance, salvation and baptism. We then invite those who have asked for forgiveness and salvation if they want to be baptized. After baptism we return to the town and have a worship service. Faithless Muslims will never agree to be baptized. They know that professing to be a Christian and being baptized will cause them to be expelled from their family and into serious persecution.
When we see that they have a spiritual leader and are able to meet as a church, without our team directly leading, then we will provide the material to put up a church roof. Together, with the new believers, we put up the roof. It is the congregation’s responsibility to complete the walls.
We continue to meet, disciple and encourage the new church.
Testimonies from our bases
The testimonies below come from our indigenous missionary bases. These bases are strategically located in the midst of resistant, unreached tribes. In the regions of our bases are towns and villages that have never had churches. Within these Satanic strongholds, we are seeing salvations. We then baptize, disciple, and start churches. These are only a few of many testimonies we receive every month.
From our indigenous missionary team in Guinea:
I, Kim Smith, just returned from our team in Northern Guinea. The Christians, including our team, are facing persecution. Muslims own almost all the land. If a Christian rents from a Muslim landlord and expresses their faith then they will be forced to leave.
Associated Press wrote, “Some 1,300 military personnel from 29 countries are training in Ghana and Ivory Coast, amid surging jihadi violence linked to al-Qaida, the Islamic State group has killed thousands, displaced millions and plunged countries into crises… the extremist activity is concentrated in West Africa… the violence is rapidly spreading.” We have bases in 4 West African nations. Violent jihadist extremists are now in the city our Guinea team is based in.The jihadists are going from mosque to mosque inciting the Muslims to expel the Christians. Pray for West Africa. Pray for our indigenous missionary teams.
From our indigenous missionary team in Sierra Leone:
“This is the month of Ramadan for the Muslims. We interviewed dozens of them about the meaning and significance of Ramadan, but not even one person knew. The youth see Islamic religious beliefs as a tradition of their forefathers. They nonchalantly remain, but do not believe, to avoid persecution and family conflict.”
“Good morning it was very marvelous and wonderful last evening in a churchless village. More than a 300 people viewed the Jesus film. Six elderly and a blind woman were baptized.”
