The ways of Wordsower Africa are patterned after Christ
Jesus said, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come” (Mark 1:38). Jesus went from village to village preaching. He then gathered disciples around Him and trained them. Later, after they had been trained, He sent them out. Wordsower Africa goes from village to village evangelizing and teaching. Then we gather disciples in our Bible institute and train them. After their training, they are sent out, united with the Holy Spirit, to lovingly, sacrificially and obediently accomplish the work ordained by our Lord to do. Many Churches have been Started
I, Kim Smith, have spent 3 months traveling to our 7 bases in 4 countries. One of our goals is to train believers. We train thousands. We offer 1-2 day classes, 1-week classes, 2-week classes and 8-week classes. Most of the students we lose contact with, but it is not uncommon for our base leaders to enter a new town and discover that a church has been started by a former student that we had trained. We are discovering that some of these formerly unknown churches are also starting other churches. Long ago I dreamed that we would see an out-of-control wildfire growth of the gospel and new churches. It is now beginning to happen! Testimonies of Disciples
Our Disciple was beaten and stripped naked for preaching the Gospel
In West Africa there are demonic societies which have many names. In Liberia the society is often called, “The Devil and his Devil Dancers.” They are ruled by a demonic leader called the Devil. The Devil is the authority. He robs, tortures and kills those who resist and oppose, or those he deems as having done wrong. His disciples are called Devil Dancers. There are numerous stories about the power of their witchcraft and evil ways.
Pynes Town was one of the most powerful demonic strongholds of Liberia (Google “General Butt Naked” for verification). One morning while Moses was preaching in Pynes Town, his home town, the devil and 19 of his men from the society captured him, beat him, and stripped him completely naked. Then they dragged him, bleeding, into their hidden place where their altar was located. Their intent was to tie him to a tree, severally whip him, and keep him tied for days until death or near death. But, as God would have it, they all went into the forest looking for vines to tie him and left Moses on the ground, unguarded. Moses says he heard a voice that said, “RUN!” and he did! He ran completely naked and barefoot through the dense rainforest until he came to a road.
Pynes town is about 3 hours from our base on motorbike. Miraculously, Badio Yarl, our country director, just “happened” to be passing on the road at the same time Moses hobbled, naked and bleeding, from the forest. Badio shared with Moses the clothes he had on and then transported him back to our Zwedru base. Being on the front lines, advancing against the enemy, requires the hand of God to escape death.
Today, leaders that we have trained and assisted have two strong churches in Pynes town. The Devil and his Devil Dancers have dissipated. The Devil himself has become Christian and is attending church and evangelizing. Another stronghold destroyed.
“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them…These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” Isaiah 42:16
Our disciple was robbed, beaten and left to die
“They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 1:19
The roads are very bad and cut through the sparsely populated, untamed rainforest. The distance between villages can be hours apart. Rarely do 4-wheeled vehicles attempt to navigate these roads. Delka Yarl, “DK,” one of our field leaders, had taken our brand-new bike to go on mission. As he was traveling, he saw a bike broken down and three men trying to fix it. DK got off his bike to assist. As he was bent over, trying to fix the bike, one of the men put a gun to his back. They ordered him to drive them. He drove them for 3 hours into a region he had never traveled before. As it was getting dark, they came to a narrow makeshift log bridge, the men started beating him until he fell off the bridge into the creek. They pulled him onto the creek bank and continued to severely beat him. DK said, “Blood was coming out of my nose and mouth. Wounds were bleeding throughout my body while I was being beaten. I was in and out of consciousness. As I laid under the bridge, on the creek bank, they lifted a large log and used it to pin my head to the ground, leaving me to die.”
As God would have it, later that night, an old rotten pickup truck crossed the bridge and parked near the creek to get water for their overheated engine. As they went down to the creek, they found DK semi-conscious with his head pinned under the log. They put him in their truck and took them to the next village where he was treated. Others from our base came to rescue DK and search for the villains and the bike. The bike was discovered parked in a village. The chief said 3 men had left it, broken down, and said that they would return to retrieve it. They never returned.

Our on-site leaders and the donations of churches and individuals from abroad are bringing in a great harvest. We need the unity of us all, His Church, to accomplish our Lord’s command to reach the world. Thank you for your active love and faith. Thank you for sacrificing with us.
