June 2023 End of the Month Report

 Unreached tribes

“I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut… What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.” Revelations 7-8

Wordsower Africa is working in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Ivory Coast. Within these four countries there are 82 unreached tribes. We have indigenous missionary teams working within 12 of these tribes. The majority of these tribes are Muslim. These tribes are thousands of years old. Almost every town within these tribes has never had a church nor wants Christians in them. Yet, we are seeing a historic move of the Holy Spirit within these unreached tribes. In the first 6 months of this year, we have baptized 1,450 and started 11 Churches in towns that have never had churches!!! Right now, churchless towns, from these unreached tribes, are begging us to help them start a church.

We are called to participate in His sacrifice

Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:16-17

For decades when I took communion it was a time of remembrance and thankfulness. But this verse, about communion, takes us from being just observers to becoming participants. Now, when I take communion, I make a covenant oath to my Lord and Savior. Before I drink from the cup, I say unto our Lord, “As you suffered, bled and died for the lost, I give you my covenant oath to participate and I also will suffer, bleed and die for the lost.”  The bread represents His body. We His Church are His body. So, before I partake of the bread I say unto our Lord, “As you suffered, bled and died for Your Church, I give you my covenant oath. I will suffer, bleed and die for Your Church.” Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15. Please join us, sacrifice with us, as we participate in the sacrifice to preach His gospel unto the unreached tribes of West Africa. We are within 12 of the 82 unreached tribes of these 4 nations. 70 more are waiting.

Living in the Miraculous

God is Breaking Down our Vehicles!!!

Wordsower Africa teams travel on motorbikes. But when we have American visitors, and have to travel on the road, we usually take a taxi or rent a car.

One time we rented a Land Cruiser. The car comes with driver. We were going to and from our Zwedru base. It takes at least 1 ½ days to go from the capital, Monrovia, to our base. We were deep in the rain forest driving back to Monrovia from our base. Suddenly the car stopped as we watched smoke escaping from under the hood. We opened the hood to a cloud of smoke and the smell of burnt rubber. We discovered that the wires, in the wiring harness, had melted into one glob of rubber and copper. The wiring harness is a flexible tube filled with wires that go from the car’s computer to the various components. We were at least a day from the capital where a replacement part might be found. The driver saw a passing motorbike and hitched a ride to try to find a part. We knew he could be gone for 2-3 days. To our utter surprise an hour later he returned with the exact wiring harness for our make and model car. He said that the first village he entered a man was walking on the road with the wiring harness in his hand. That was a miracle. I believe our Lord made this happen to show us His Glory, Sovereignty and agreement with our mission.

Another time, I had two Americans with me in a rented taxi. This time it was late at night. Again, we were deep within the rain forest. The car died going up a hill and would not restart. It could be long for another car to pass, and days to return with the needed part. But, surprisingly, almost immediately, we saw headlights coming toward us. It was a rotten pickup truck that sounded like it would also soon die. The driver stopped. He was so drunk he could hardly stand. As he staggered towards us, he said, “Well, I see the fuel pump has gone bad.” I thought, how in the world can this drunk bushman have any idea what our problem is! There were two items in the back of that old, rotten pickup. One was a rotten tire and the other a plastic bag. The plastic bag contained the exact fuel pump that fit our old Nissan car!!! The drunk bushman put it on and away we went. Another miracle! Again, I believe our Lord broke down our car to show us His Glory, Sovereignty and agreement with our mission. “For God does speak —now one way, now another though no one perceives it.” Job 33:14.

We sent our team, with 200 Gideon bibles, into a new territory. The bike broke down. Across the road was a church filled with members fasting and praying for Bibles! “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light...These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” Isaiah 42:16

One of our filed leaders returned from mission and said, “I can’t believe it but this is the third time our bike has broken down in front of the same village.” I said, “Our Lord has done that for a reason. Return to that village. “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17

We praise God for break downs!

Video from our Guinea base

Our Guinea base made a short 2 ½ minute video that I believe you will enjoy.

The Jesus Film

We have shown the Jesus Film and other evangelistic films to 38,520, in the first 6 months. This is a testimony, about the effectiveness of the Jesus Film, I received today from Sierra Leone:

“The Lord has done it again in (name is withheld) village. It is a large churchless village, of an unreached tribe. They have two mosques and approximately 4,000 inhabitants. We showed the Jesus film last night, in their language. About 400 showed up to watch. After the show, with great emotion, many prayed for forgiveness and salvation. The next morning, we returned and 70 were baptized. Brother Kargbo and Mohammed Sesay have the desire to pastor the new converts.”

Testimonies of Disciples

Lofa County, Liberia base:

“We had a wonderful meeting yesterday. We praise God because our Muslim neighbor joined us in our discipleship meeting. He said that he can't understand the Quran and doesn’t believe it. His father, the Muslim chief of the region, found out that his son was in our meeting and came, in anger, to arrest him. But instead, when he entered the meeting he sat, stayed and respectfully listened, as if the hand of God had arrested him. When the meeting was over the two left, holding hands. Later the son returned and had the blessing of his father to become a Christian.”

Sierra Leone base:

“We met Abraham, a classroom teacher. He was a Muslim of the Coronkon unreached Muslim tribe. Abraham told us that he was able and ready to become a pastor. But how can a Muslim man desires to be pastor? (Name withheld) is a churchless, unreached village with a very large mosque. We believed it was God that was speaking through Abraham. We spent time with him sharing scripture and the gospel. He gladly received the message and believed. We took him to the river where he was joyfully baptized. We shall return to the village and help them to have their first ever church service. Please pray for Abraham. He desires to be a pastor for the lost sheep of his village.” Our Lord said, “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.” Isaiah 65:1.
